Welcome to the Crowley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, located in the Bayou State.
We are a small but mighty prominent and progressive chapter in the “Blazing Southwest” Region, serving the city of Crowley, Louisiana and the surrounding Acadia Parish cities, towns and municipalities for the past 48 years.
Crowley Alumnae Chapter was charted on June 1,1975 by twelve dynamic, visionary women, Lois T. Andrus, Charlsie B. Barabin, Willie H. Bernard, Grace B. Brown, Elizabeth B. Broussard, Gladys W. Butler, Terry W. Corbins, Nancy D. Hooper, Bessie S. Jacob, Dr. JoAnn Marx, Rosa G. Wilturner and Martha W. Andrus.
These 12 dynamic women recognized the need in the Acadia Parish communities to uphold the sorority’s principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service and Social Action.
We are pleased to showcase our chapter’s activities, programs, and partnerships. Crowley Alumnae Chapter’s activities and programs are aligned with Delta’s National Five Point Programmatic Thrust; namely, Social Action, Educational Development, Economic Development, Physical & Mental Health, and International Awareness.
~Political and Voter Education Forums- Partnering with local advocacy groups to introduce political candidates seeking offices
~Friends Don’t Let Friends Fight Cancer Alone- Addressing Breast Cancer Awareness & Prevention
~Empowered Red-Addressing Heart Health Awareness & Prevention
~Grand Cotillion Scholarship & Awards Program-Recognizing and introducing exemplary high school Juniors, Seniors and 1st Year- College Freshmen to Society and awarding of Scholarships and Awards.
~Books & Balloons on the Green -Promoting reading and improving literacy for level K-6th grades.
~Chat & Chew with The City’s Mayor -Addressing and discussing community issues.
~Awarding of Annual Scholarships & Awards to high school seniors entering four-year universities
